Healthcare Reimbursement in Australia: A Prosthesis List Perspective

Aaron Shikhule is a graduate of University of New South Wales in the Public Health discipline. He immediately thereafter secured a role in the health economic field of an organisation that specialises in the area. He is an Associate Reimbursement Analysts at Medtronic Australasia Pty Ltd with interests across a broad range of Heath Technology Assessment, for the reimbursement of drugs and devices in Australia. His primary application area is the acquisition of Private Health Insurance funding for Medtronic products, via the Prosthesis List reimbursement pathway, for supply in Private Australian Hospitals. He also has experience on working on submissions and applications to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme and Medical Benefits Schedule, respectively.
He is currently involved in a number of exemplary projects that include an active member of the Young Executives Group at Royal Automobile Club of Australia (RACA) and Member of both Health Economics Society of Australia (HESA) & Health Technology Assessment working group (HTA).
Aaron participated in a 2-month health economic work experience placement in New Delhi, India. During his time there he shadowed a senior health economist researching the burden of tuberculosis in India. His primary role was to quantitatively analyse tuberculosis data collected by his supervisor and her team from the state of West Bengal. He took the initiative to design a presentation explaining his findings to the New Delhi and Hyderabad offices of his interning organisation.
