Anzac Remeberance Feature

The Royal Automobile Club of Australia, in conjunction with the Australasian Pioneers’ Club, invite you to attend a special Remembrance Day luncheon as we welcome our guest speaker Louise Williams. Louise is a Walkley Award winning journalist, spending more than a decade as a foreign correspondent for Fairfax newspapers and is the niece of John Williams.

John Williams was a medical student who became a fighter pilot with the RAAF. Captured by the Germans after being shot down, he was imprisoned in the supposedly escape-proof POW camp, Stalag Luft III.

John and the other inmates planned a bold escape, tunnelling their way out under the Germans’ noses.

Of the two hundred who made the attempt, 76 escaped, with John and his great mate, Rusty among them.

Bookings are essential.
