ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB MOTORING
The advancement of motoring and the pursuit of motoring activities was the foundation on which the RACA was built. Today, Royal Automobile Club Motoring provides activities available to all RACA members. Some events appeal to dedicated motoring enthusiasts while others will appeal to members who enjoy a pleasant drive to a place of interest together with a long lunch.
You can also visit our Facebook page to see something of our past activities and to see what RACA Motoring events are coming up. https://www.facebook.com/RACAMEG

ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB MOTORING NEWS“BRITISH CARS ACROSS THE AGES” MEETING SETS NEW STANDARD
Our recent gathering at the Clubhouse saw many members and visitors take great interest in the history of some of Britain’s’ lesser known makes. Some of the delights on show included a very imposing Lagonda M45 tourer, a 1920’s Alvis tourer, a MG roadster, a Humber formal saloon, a Rover Saloon amongst others.
One visiting member also brought in a stunning Maserati to put a slightly European flavour into the evening.
A great success with several very interesting historical accounts given by enthusiastic owners.
ANNUAL MOTORING DINNER DATES ANNOUNCED.
Royal Automobile Club Motoring organisers have announced the date of the Grand Annual Dinner for 30th July 2016.
Please make this date in your diary now for what will be another spectacular evening in the grand tradition of previous years.
This year the annual RACA Motoring Dinner is honouring Mr Pedr Davis, internationally renowned motoring journalist and historian who has carefully informed and educated his audience for more than 50 years, creating a body of work second to none which accurately documents the highs and the lows particularly of the Australian motoring world. Our honoured guests will also include The Hon. Duncan Gay MLC NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight. The RACA motoring Trophies will be presented the Historic Sports Racing Car Association 2015 Tasman Trophy Class winners in the classes Sa, Sb and Sc. And there will be again displayed in Members Bar a very rare example of pre-war motor sport racing.
ROLL UP, ROLL UP, ROLL UP, ANNOUNCING “CASUAL FRIDAY DRINKS”
Royal Automobile Club Motoring would like to invite all RACA members to a casual get together in Members Bar on a particular Friday of each month.
On irregular Friday nights we have found a small but growing group of members enjoying an impromptu get together. No planning! No bookings! No structure! Why not just turn up to what has to be the best bar location in Australia for a casual drink – put Friday 17th June into your diary and drop by.
In discussing ways to enrich our membership of this special place, one member commented, “this is what our Club is supposed to be for …not just a venue!”
DID YOU KNOW?
In the early 1900’s car maker and efficient mass production pioneer, Henry Ford let out a contract for the supply of radiators for his T model production line with very specific terms. Makers were required to supply radiators, but only in timber crates of a very particular type and dimension.
It is said, a puzzled radiator supplier, while visiting the production line, witnessed his radiators being unboxed on the factory floor with great care and fitted to each car in turn.
The crate the radiator was supplied in was then collected and reassembled as a perfect fit now as floor boards for each T model!
