Last month I told you about 2 of the first release wines we’ll be serving at our 7th Annual Black Tie Henschke Dinner on 23 November at 7pm – the 2017 ‘Percival’s Mill’ Gruner Ventliner and the 2015 ‘Wheelwright’ Shiraz. As you all probably know, September 2018 marked the 150th anniversary of the Henschke family’s first commercial vintage in 1868, and we intend to celebrate this significant occasion in style.
Other wines to be served will include the wonderful ‘Johanne Ida Selma’ Blanc de Noir MD on arrival, 2017 ‘Peggy's Hill’ Riesling – a multiple trophy winner, 2 vintages of ‘Henry's Seven’ Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro blend – the 2007 and the 2016, and 2013 ‘Cyril Henschke’ Cabernet Sauvignon. All up there’ll be 7 Henschke wines plus a mystery wine the subject of our now traditional, much fun options game, with the winner to receive a nice prize.
The Club’s Executive Chef Gary Ryley has created a 3 course bespoke menu to match and complement the wines. Following a first course of king prawn salad and a main course of veal tenderloin, and after the options game, dinner will conclude with service of a twice baked cheese soufflé with roasted plums – a wonderful match to the ‘Wheelwright’ Shiraz and ‘Cyril’ Cabernet Sauvignon.
The price for all of this is $175 per head; a bargain given that in addition to the great food and wines on offer, the Dinner is a wonderful opportunity for members and their guests to ‘glam it up a bit’ as year-end approaches in the company of other Corks ‘n’ Forkers, many of whom have attended all previous Henschke Dinners.
Bookings for the Dinner are now open, and it’s always a good idea to book early. Bookings can be made through the Events Team on (02) 8273 2322 or email@example.com
I look forward to welcoming you all at the Dinner.
