Corks 'n' Forks June 2021

On the evening of 21 May, 63 members and their guests assembled in the Macquarie Room to enjoy our Corks ‘n’ Forks Murray Cod Dinner – a unique event unlikely to have been held before in the Club’s long history. Club member Ross Anderson from AQUNA Murray Cod was on hand to show several videos about the history of the fish, its farming down in Griffith, the different ways it can be cooked, and how best to do so. Ross also answered many questions from the assembled throng.

Rather than describe the 6 courses of Murray Cod and the accompanying wines (all sourced from Griffith and the Riverina), I’ve included the menu and wine list. Here it is. Of particular note was the variety of the menu crafted by the Club’s Executive Chef Scott Thompson, and the exceptional quality and standard of preparation and cooking by Scott and his team. The service from the Club’s floor staff was also exceptional.

The next Corks ‘n’ Forks event for the year will be our annual Bastille Dinner to be held on Wednesday 14 July at 7pm.

Just to whet your appetites, our annual Bastille Dinner is always a great night. It’s the perfect opportunity to glam it up a bit and celebrate all things French – food, wine, fashion, style etc. There’ll be a great selection of French wines from many of Frances’s wine regions chosen and presented by Ian Cook from Five Way Cellars matched to a bespoke menu crafted by Chef and his team. If you’re lucky you might even win one of the best dressed prizes or our wine options game!

More details, including the menu, matching wines and price are a work in progress and will soon be available.
