Dear Members - Happy New Year!
I trust you’re well and that your palates are suitably refreshed in anticipation of the vinous and culinary delights we have planned for this year. The details are below.
You’ll see our first event is a tasting/tour scheduled for 6.30pm on Thursday 21 February titled ‘Spot the Difference’. Led by Steve Blandford - the Club’s wine consultant, there’ll be 15 wines from 5 varieties to taste – Riesling, Chardonnay, Grenache, Nebbiolo and Malbec – selected from the Old and New Worlds. Apart from having some fun, the purpose of the tasting is to show the difference in character expressed in wines of the same variety but from different countries or regions, and for the tasters to decide on their preferences.
For those who’ve not been before, our tasting/tours are relaxed, informal and educative evenings designed to appeal to those members and their guests seeking an introduction to the wonderful world of wine or to expand their existing knowledge. They’re held in the seated comfort of the Vintage/Pioneers Room and only 18 places are available. The wines are served in several flights, accompanied by small but ample food courses chosen by Chef to match the wines.
The cost for all of this is a bargain $90pp. To make a booking, please contact Yvonne Muriithi, the Club’s Events Coordinator on 8273 2322, or send an email to her at eventsadmin@raca.com.au. Don’t leave it too long though as places are limited.
