On 5th March, 1968, the Club Chairman, Mr. A. F Bode and four other gentlemen members met a selected group of twelve lady members. The Chairman outlined the reasons for meeting and asked for any suggestions the lady members might have for the improvement of amenities and services. Approximately ten suggestions were documented and it was then decided to form a Ladies Committee with Mrs. B. Furnell as Ladies President and Mrs.C.Swadling as Vice President.
It was also resolved that the Ladies Committee would meet monthly and the first meeting was held on Wednesday, 3rd April, 1968 and thereafter on the second Wednesday in each month.
The Ladies Committee holds a luncheon on the last Monday of every month. These luncheons are open to all members, both male and female, and their guests, and always feature a guest speaker or entertainment. The Ladies Committee serves a historically important function in the operation of the Club and welcomes members to meet with them at these lunches for discussion and exchange of ideas.
