At the Royal Automobile Club of Australia, we think that it is important to know about many of the features in our club, as a comparison to other exclusive clubs in Sydney. One of Sydney’s oldest and most well known clubs, is the Tattersalls Club. It was founded in 1858 and has a proud history of supporting Sydney’s sportsmen. Not long after, in 1903, the Royal Automobile Club of Australia was founded, and is now widely recognized as one of the country’s premier business clubs.
An interesting element of the Tattersalls Club is that membership is limited to men. The Royal Automobile Club of Australia, on the other hand, accepts members of both genders.
With views over Hyde Park (once the home of Australia’s first race course), the Tattersalls Club focuses on offering a variety of sporting events for its members. The Royal Automobile Club, located at 89 Macquarie Street with a fantastic view of Circular Quay, instead offers a number of social events for both its members and their guests.
The Tattersalls Club has agreements with 3 hotels located around Sydney to offer competitive accommodation rates to members of the Tattersalls Club. With 29 rooms available for accommodation at the Royal Automobile Club, and being just a short walk from Circular Quay and the Opera House, you’ll never need to hunt for somewhere to stay. Although, with our many international reciprocal clubs, members have global options.
The Members Dining Room serves breakfast and lunch to members of the Tattersalls Club Monday to Friday. Similarly, at RACA, the Club’s dining room is open for lunch and dinner five days a week, as well as dinner only on Saturdays and breakfast daily for members staying in-house or using the Gym.
The Tattersalls Club Members Bar serves casual meals to members and their guests for lunch and dinner, with café service also available in the mornings and afternoons. At the Royal Automobile Club’s Member's Bar, premium quality food is served with efficient service and style. Open for lunch and dinner Monday to Friday, as well as dinner on Saturday, the bar is an ideal location for your business meetings or for a social event.
The Tattersalls Club’s Athletic Department is open seven days a week, and features an indoor pool, group fitness classes, and personal training services. The Royal Automobile Club’s Athletics Club, also open seven days a week, boasts experienced trainers, peaceful massage services, a steam room and sauna to help you relax after a hard training session.
The Tattersalls Club has a number of function rooms available to its members for their private, social, or work functions. The Royal Automobile Club of Australia offers 7 main function rooms, the largest of which can hold up to 250 guests. With years of experience hosting functions, you can count on us to help make your time memorable.
As a member of the Tattersalls Club, you are entitled to a competitive rate at a number of parking garages throughout Sydney. As Australia’s oldest motoring organization, inevitably the Club operates a first-class garage, offering members reasonably-priced parking right in the heart of Sydney.
